Our Story

JL's Fireworks is more than just a fireworks stand — it’s the realization of a long-held dream shared by John and Joy Leslie, a husband-and-wife team with big hearts, strong faith, and a love for bringing people together through celebration.

The name JL's stands for John and Joy Leslie's, and this family-owned business truly reflects the spirit of togetherness. After many prayers, countless late-night conversations, and months of planning, JL's Fireworks came to life — opening its first stand in Freeport, Texas in June 2025.

Their three sons, who are just as excited about the business as they are about soccer and anime, will be right alongside them — helping out, learning the ropes, and growing up with the stand as a family tradition in the making.

John has over a decade of experience working offshore, transporting crude oil along the Gulf Coast, but eventually made the decision to leave the industry so he could be home more, choosing family time over long months away, to be more present as a husband, a father, and now a small business owner. Joy, a registered nurse by night and John’s right-hand, plays a vital role behind the scenes — helping keep the business running smoothly and the family dream alive.
